NYC's annual Global Citizen Festival returns on September 23 in Central Park. This year's lineup has Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, Pharrell Williams, Big Sean, Andra Day, Alessia Cara, and more.
As always, the festival is free, and you have to download the app and start taking action to earn tickets. Here's more info:
Once you earn enough points, you will be entered into a lottery. If you win, you will receive two tickets to the festival, along with the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to helping solve the world’s biggest challenges.
But, if you don’t get a ticket the first time, don’t worry — you can take actions in the next Action Journey, earn more points, and be eligible for the next ticket draw.
Action Journeys will start on Aug. 1, Aug. 15, Aug. 29, and Sept. 15.
Global Citizen Festival has a different initiative each year, and this year, they're "campaigning to stop the cuts to US foreign aid; to expand access to education for every human being; and to create more opportunities for women and girls to succeed." More info here.
Regarding playing the festival, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong said, "We’re grateful to be a part of this year’s Global Citizen Festival. American aid programs make a significant difference in the betterment of lives at home and around the world, and we should all want these programs to become stronger, not weaker. We all play a part in seeing this mission through and it starts with calling on all our leaders."
Green Day are also on tour now, with Connecticut and Jersey shows happening later this month.
The Killers just announced a new album and tour.
