Global Citizen Fest NYC 2018 lineup: Janet Jackson, Cardi B, Weeknd, Janelle, more

The annual Global Citizen Festival will hold its 2018 NYC edition on September 29 on Central Park’s great lawn and, as usual, there’s an all-star lineup of musical performers. This year includes Janet Jackson, The Weeknd and Cardi B, all three of whom were scheduled to play NYC’s Panorama in July but only Janet actually played (Cardi dropped off due to giving birth, and weather forced The Weeknd to cancel). Also joining them are Janelle Monae and odd man out Shawn Mendes. There will be a special guest appearance by John Legend and this year’s hosts are Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness. This is the second concert that Cardi B announced since giving birth, following yesterday’s Mala Luna Festival announcement.

As always, the festival is free but you need to “earn” tickets to go, which you can do via the Global Citizen Festival app. More info here.

There’s also a Global Citizen Festival in South Africa in December with Beyonce, Jay-Z, and more.

Via Global Citizen’s website: “Global Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030. On our platform, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on those issues, and earn rewards for their actions — as part of a global community committed to lasting change.”
