Global Festival returns as Global Citizen Festival, announces Central Park benefit w/ Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon & more
A year after names like Neil Young, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, and others took to Central Park, Global Festival (not to be confused with the Global Fest which hit Webster Hall last year) is back, this time rechristening itself Global Citizen Fest.
The free, ticketed festival will go down on the great lawn at Central Park on September 28, and featurea the incomparable Stevie Wonder along with Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys and John Mayer. The show will be held in coordination with the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, the goal being to "to give world leaders a clear mandate to end extreme poverty by 2030." Be selfish and selfless in one fell swoop by earning points toward a free ticket by signing up for the movement and taking action against poverty. Details are on the Global Citizen website.
