globalFEST 2019: lineup and tickets (Jeremy Dutcher, Combo Chimbita, Zouk Machine & more)
globalFEST, NYC’s multi-stage one day festival with musical acts from around the world, will hold its 2019 edition at The Copacabana Times Square on January 6. Acts this year include Canadian composer and tenor, and 2018 Polaris Prize winner, Jeremy Dutcher who will be making his NYC live debut with globalFEST and will perform songs from his debut album, Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, where he rearranged forgotten songs of the Wolastoq First Nation’s traditional music.
Also performing: Brooklyn’s terrific Combo Chimbita, South Africa’s B.C.U.C. (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness), Indian slide guitar master Debashish Bhattacharya, mambo supergroup Orquesta Akokán, Tennessee’s Southern Gothic blues artist Amythyst Kiah, Ukrainian punk cabaret combo Dakh Daughters, Guadeloupean zouk greats Zouk Machine, London-based Palestinian group 47 SOUL who make a combination of electronic hip-hop and traditional dabke dance music they call “shamstep,” and more.
