Gorillaz Roskilde set cut short after Del The Funky Homosapien fell off stage

Gorillaz cut their headlining set at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival short on Saturday (7/7) after Del the Funky Homosapien fell off the stage while performing “Clint Eastwood.” As Rolling Stone reports, Gorillaz were halfway through the first verse of the song during Del’s accident, and after signaling for help while the band continued to play, frontman Damon Albarn told the crowd, “Thank you so much for a beautiful, beautiful night. Unfortunately, we’ve had a… I don’t know yet.”

In a translated statement, Roskilde organizers said, “one of the [Gorillaz] artists, Del the Funky Homosapien, unfortunately fell from the stage during the last number of Gorillaz’ concert. He was seen on site by a doctor and went to the hospital for further investigation. He’s conscious and talking to his team. We hope he recovers quickly and wish him a speedy recovery.”

Del posted an update of his own to social media, saying, “thank you all for the love! I’m doing alright but will be in the hospital for a bit, the care here is outstanding though. Much love to @gorillaz for having me out and I’ll be back soon yall”

A fan caught the incident on video, which you can watch below.

Gorillaz begin their North American tour in support of their new album, The Now Now, in October.
