Grand Analog

Grand Analog team with Posdnuos of De La Soul for "Mutations" video (watch)

Canadian rap group Grand Analog have been at it for over a decade, and they’ll release their next project, the Survival EP, on January 26 via their own Grand Analog Music label. Guests include Shad, 2oolman of A Tribe Called Red, Posdnuos of De La Soul, and more, and we’re premiering the video for the Posdnuos collab, “Mutations.” Grand Analog make use of live instruments and there’s a clear throwback vibe to their sound, so they sound totally natural working with a vet like Pos. Here’s what Grand Analog tell us about the video:

Our “Mutations” video takes you through a day in the life of a 14 year old boy, Nathan Leppky, in the midst of searching for his manhood. Directed by Odario, we peek into Nathan’s world as his single mother is at work. It’s shot in their humble Parkdale apartment in downtown Toronto. Odario says, “Nathan reminds me of myself when I was 14… time moved slowly, nothing ever made sense although I thrived to understand. And I was completely unaware of how awkward I was, living in my little bubble that seemed like a huge world.
