Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong streams EP with new band The Longshot

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has had a number of side projects over the years, including Pinhead Gunpowder, The Network, Foxboro Hot Tubs and Armstrongs, and now he’s got yet another one: The Longshot. Stereogum points to an Instagram the band launched that has drawings of Billie (like the one above) and says “new album Love Is For Losers coming eventually sooner or later. Probably sooner.” While you wait for that album, they’ve just released a three-song EP with “Love Is For Losers,” “Taxi Driver,” and “Chasing A Ghost.” They’re all rooted in the kind of poppy ’70s punk that Green Day have always channelled, and they’re all rippers. They kinda sound like the faster songs Green Day wrote in the Nimrod era. Check them out below.
