Grizzly Bear cover Diane Cluck's "Easy to Be Around" (listen)

Avant-folk singer Diane Cluck emerged from the same late-’90s / early-’00s Sidewalk Cafe scene that birthed Regina Spektor and Jeffrey Lewis (the latter of whom Diane as collaborated with), and she’s remained prolific and consistently great, having last released the very solid album Boneset in 2014. She may be a little underrated, but she’s got some famous fans, like Grizzly Bear, who tweeted “We’ve all been fans since before we were even a band!” after covering her 2003 song “Easy to Be Around” for the Spotify Singles series. They really change it up and make it sound like a Grizzly Bear song, and their version is worthy as the original. Listen to both below, along with a version of “Mourning Sound” that Grizzly Bear recorded for that same Spotify session.

“Mourning Sound” is on Grizzly Bear’s great new album Painted Ruins, which they’re currently supporting on tour with serpentwithfeet. That tour begins a three-night run at Brooklyn Steel TONIGHT (11/2) and continues through Saturday (11/4). All three shows are sold out.
