Robert Pollard’s new lineup of Guided by Voices made their NYC live debut Saturday evening (7/9) at the 2016 Village Voice 4Knots Music Festival. With this iteration, which includes Bobby Bare, Jr on guitar, it was more of the Robert Pollard Revue, pulling not just from GbV’s deep catalog, but also Pollard solo albums as well as his other projects like Boston Spaceships and Ricked Wicky It was a short set for those fans used to the group’s legendarily marathon sets– a mere 27 songs — but it was also free. Pollard can still high-kick with the best of them, though.
