Guided by Voices are gearing up to release Mirrored Aztec, their 30th album, on August 21. We already got one song off the album this week, "Haircut Sphinx," and now here's a second. "To Keep an Area" is even better, with a big acoustic guitar riff and a killer chorus that has it sounding like it could've come out on Stiff Records in 1979 alongside Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello and Wreckless Eric. Listen below.

For stat keepers, Mirrored Aztec is also Robert Pollard's 107th album. How many do you own?

This is GbV's second album of 2020 -- Surrender Your Poppy Field back in February -- and will reissue 1995's Alien Lanes for its 25th anniversary on the same day Mirrored Aztec is out.

If you've been missing Guided by Voices' marathon live shows, they're playing a full-band, electric show a livestream concert from Dayton, OH next Friday (7/17) at 5 PM Eastern.
