Minneapolis' Haley Bonar got an early start as a teen in the early '00s when Alan Sparhawk caught one of her sets and invited her to tour with his band, Low. She's a distinctive singer-songwriter, rarely sticking to singer-songwriter tropes, always opting for inventive instrumentation and arrangements as a showcase for her clear voice and songwriting chops. Her fifth album, Last War, will be out next week (5/20) on Graveface. Something about it -- the driving basslines, the synthesizers -- has an almost late-'80s alt-rock vibe to it which fits her very well. Starting this week, Haley will be on a short tour of the Midwest and Northeast, including NYC at Rough Trade on June 16. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (5/16) at noon. All tour dates are listed, along with the video, below...
