Hannibal Buress in new Jean Grae & Quelle Chris video w/ Eric Andre, touring

Rappers Quelle Chris, who released the very solid Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often last year, and Jean Grae, who hasn’t released an album in a while but who has been very busy with comedy, are releasing a collaborative album, Everything’s Fine, on March 30 via Mello Music Group. The album features Hannibal Buress (on “OhSh”), Jean’s comedy partner John Hodgman and recent ‘Jean & John’ guest Michael Che (on “Don’t Worry It’s Fine”), Nick Offerman (on “Everything’s Still Fine”), Your Old Droog (on “Scoop of Dirt”), former Das Racist member Dapwell aka Ash Kondabalu (on “Doing Bettar Than Ever”), Anna Wise (on “House Call” and “Waiting for the Moon”), and more.

Jean and Chris just released a video for “Gold Purple Orange,” which has a beat that sounds right of NYC’s early ’90s jazz-rap scene, but lyrics that battle the political and social issues of 2018. The video has the lyrics on screen and it’s humorously retro in kind of an Adult Swim type of way. It’s got appearances from Dane Orr, Eric Andre, Anna Wise, Denmark Vessey, Duncecap, Jonathan Hoard and Littles The Cat, and it really goes into comedy territory when Hannibal Buress shows up… even though he was supposed to be in a different Jean and Chris video. Watch below.

No live dates for Jean and Chris just yet, but Jean and John Hodgman do their next ‘Jean and John’ show on March 15 at The Bell House. Guests may or may not be announced beforehand. Tickets are on sale now.

Hannibal Buress also has dates coming up, including two in the NYC-area: The Capitol Theatre on May 17 (tickets on sale 3/2 at noon) and BAM on May 18 (tickets on sale 3/2 at 10 AM). All dates are listed below.
