Happy Birthday Lee "Scratch" Perry! (watch his new 180° VR live video shot at Elsewhere)

Dub icon Lee “Scratch” Perry turns 84 years young today and we would like to wish him a very happy birthday. To celebrate, Lee has a new VR 180° video from his sold-out Brooklyn show at Elsewhere on his 2018 Blackboard Jungle Live tour, which included a live performance of his classic album live backed by Subatomic Sound System, as well as first dubs of Bob Marley tracks like “Kaya” and “Keep on Moving.” You can pan around the room as Lee bounces across the stage and that VR video premieres in this post — watch below.

Like most musicians, Lee’s 2019 touring plans have been put on hold from the coronavirus, and today would be a good day to go check out the Lee “Scratch” Perry and Subatomic Soundsystem Bandcamp pages, as the site is waiving its fees till 3 AM Eastern so more money goes to the artists. He’s put up a live version of “Dub Organizer” from his 2019 Blackboard Jungle Dub tour as a pay-what-you-want download.

Meanwhile, Subatomic Soundsystem have put together a killer COVID Quarantine Spotify playlist, featuring featuring Lee, Gregory Isaacs, Fugees, Erykah Badu, The Lions, King Tubby, Dennis Brown, and lots more. Listen below.
