Actor, musician, and all-around cool cat Harry Dean Stanton has died at age 91. He stayed active right to the end, having appeared in Twin Peaks: The Return, as well as co-starring with David Lynch in upcoming film Lucky. He was a cult hero too, having appeared in such films as Two-Lane Blacktop, Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas and punk sci-fi classic Repo Man. Peneleope Houston of the Avengers also wrote a great song about him on her first solo album, Birdboys. He made music himself, having released Partly Fiction in 2014 which was the soundtrack to the great documentary portrait about him.

UPDATE: David Lynch posted a tribute to Harry to social media, which you can see below.

Harry, you had an amazing life. We'll miss you, rest in peace.

For folks in NYC, randomly, The Quad cinema had already planned a film series called "Also Starring Harry Dean Stanton" that runs September 23 - 30 featuring such films as Alien, Repo Man, Pretty in Pink, The Last Temptation of Christ, Twister, Straight Time, Escape from New York and more.
