HBO ’Deadwood’ movie looking more likely, reportedly shooting in 2018
HBO's much-loved, wonderfully profane Western series Deadwood left viewers in the lurch, a bit, with its Season 3 finale, which ended up being the series finale. Ever since it ended in 2006, there has been talk of David Milch reviving it as a series of movies for HBO. Twelve years later it looks like it's finally going to happen. TV Line reports that while it has yet to be officially greenlit, HBO is eyeing a Fall 2018 start from production of the Deadwood movie:
Over the summer at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, HBO’s top programming exec, Casey Bloys, confirmed that the project was picking up steam. “The one thing that I was concerned about was I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for Deadwood fans and non-fans],” he said. “[Series creator] David [Milch] totally delivered on that. I think it’s a terrific script. If we can do it on a budget that makes sense for us, and if we can get the cast together, we’re inclined to do it.”
Stay tuned for official fuckin' word. In the meantime you can watch a supercut of all the swearing in Deadwood's first season, below.
