Pinhead is coming to Prestige TV. Variety reports HBO has announced that it is adapting Clive Barker's Hellraiser as a television series. Barker is not currently involved, but it's being made by writers Mark Verheiden (Swamp Thing, Battlestar Galactica) and Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), and the pilot will be directed by David Gordon Green (HalloweenPineapple Express, All the Real Girls) who will also produce. Green's Rough House Pictures parters Danny McBride, Jody Hill and Brandon James will also serve as executive producers.

The Hellraiser project has been in the works since 2019 and will “create an elevated continuation and expansion” of the Hellraiser universe and not a reboot of the twisted film series that was based on Barker's novella The Hellbound Heart. Pinhead will still be the central villain who leads his gang of Cenobite creepoids. Stay tuned for more details.

The original Hellraiser was released in 1987 and spawned nine sequels, the last of which was 2018's Hellraiser: Judgement.
