Heather Trost (A Hawk and a Hacksaw) preps solo LP (watch the "Bloodmoon" video directed by Naomi Yang)

You may know Heather Trost as one half of duo A Hawk and a Hacksaw, and she’s also played with Neutral Milk Hotel, Beirut, Josephine Foster and, recently, as part of Thor & Friends. She’s set to release her first solo album, Agistri, on June 2 via Living Music Duplication, which features Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeremy Barnes on drums and bass, Deerhoof’s John Dieterich on guitar, and Drake Hardin and Rosie Hutchinson of cult New Mexico band Mammal Eggs. Get a taste of Agistri via the surrealistic video for instrumental “Bloodmoon” which was directed by Naomi Yang (Damon & Naomi, Galaxie 500). Heather told us a little about it:

I’ve always been a fan of Naomi’s work, so when she offered to make a video for me I was ecstatic. She and Damon Krukowski, her partner and bandmate from Galaxy 500 and Damon and Naomi came out to New Mexico for a vacation and to make a video for me. We ended up making two videos, and driving all over New Mexico in the process. The varied landscapes of my home state lend itself nicely to the spaciousness of “Bloodmoon.” I’m not sure it was much of a vacation for them, but it was a magical and creative time together.

The “Bloodmoon” video premieres in this post and you can watch that, and listen to another song off the album, below.
