Henry Rollins announces 2012 spoken word tour (dates)

Henry Rollins @ Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011 (more by Tim Griffin)
Henry Rollins

With four stages running at the same time, it’s hard to see everything at Fun Fun Fun Fest, but I did manage to catch part of Henry Rollins‘s Sunday night set in the Yellow Tent. He’s a great storyteller and I try to catch his spoken word shows whenever I can. This time I heard him talk a bit about an encounter with Dennis Hopper and Captain Beefheart, a funny story about meeting a young Metallica, a bit about his favorite past time, traveling, and his tendency to get frisked a bit extra due to his passport having countries like Iraq stamped on it (or so he claims). He also started talking about the voice we could all of a sudden hear from the other stage that started bleeding into his. That voice was Brian Posehn who was warming up the crowd for Slayer and actually that’s when I decided to leave and go listen to some of Brian.

Henry heads out on another giant tour in 2012, called “The Long March”. It starts in Europe and ends in the United States. Along the way he hits places like Philadelphia and Buffalo (though no NYC this time). He plans to “share stories from the road less traveled – including recent visits to North Korea, Mongolia, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Tibet, Sudan, Uganda, Haiti and Cuba.” Maybe he’ll throw in some bits like his Metallica story too. All dates are listed below…
