Hesitation Wounds -- the hardcore supergroup whose lineup currently includes frontman Jeremy Bolm of Touche Amore, Stephen LaCour (ex-Trap Them), Neeraj Kane (The Hope Conspiracy), and Tommy Cantwell (Gouge Away) -- released their excellent sophomore LP Chicanery this year. It's one of the year's best punk/hardcore albums, and as the year is winding down, we asked Hesitation Wounds what their favorite albums of the year were. Neeraj Kane and Tommy Cantwell both sent lists, both of which are very different and cover lots of musical ground, from other heavy bands to Sturgill Simpson (Neeraj) and Ariana Grande (Tommy). Neeraj also provided commentary for each of his picks. Check out both lists below.

In related news, Gouge Away (whose last album was 2018's great Burnt Sugar) members Tyler Forsythe and Dylan Downey also sent their lists. Check those out below as well.

Neeraj Kane's (Hope Conspiracy, Hesitation Wounds, etc) Favorite Albums of 2019

Liam Gallagher - Why Me? Why not.
It’s Liam, enough said.

The Twilight Sad - It Won’t Be Like This All the Time.
Always been a fan of UK post punk or whatever you want to call it and I saw them once in front of like 50 people at SXSW and they blew me away just by their performance and sincerity. It sort of took over the Morrissey/Smiths gap, since Moz is an alt right idiot.

Torche - Admission
Have always loved their sound from the beginning and they just keep putting out great records.

Cave In - Final Transmission
I have always been in awe of this band from the early days till now. With all that they have gone through as of late, this record reminds me of how special and inspirational this band is. Amazing band, amazing people.

Helms Alee - Noctiluca
No other band sounds like these amazing musicians. I love it.

Ride - This Is Not A Safe Place
I don’t think I can not like anything they do, everything from production to tones, and song writing. I love it all.

Drab Majesty - Modern Mirror
Just captures an era of music so perfectly while still making it sound new.

Sturgill Simpson - Sound and Fury
I’ve always been a fan of country since I was young, and this I guess is what people call outlaw country. But this record, in my opinion, has songs that sound like ZZ Top, mixed with his country style and Queens of the Stone Age. Loved the last records and love this one, too.

Sect - Blood of Beasts
Pulverizing hardcore anger aimed at the right people.

Darkthrone - Old Star
Overall not a fan of black metal, but this just sounds like Sabbath played fast and I dig it.
