UPDATE: With Brooklyn Academy of Music, along with all other venues, shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic, Holly's NYC and LA dates are postponed. "Sorry to say that all my upcoming US shows are postponed," she writes on Twitter. "Stay safe everyone <3"

PREVIOUSLY:

Brooklyn Academy of Music announced its new season, which runs from March 23-June 30, earlier this year. Included in it is a performance from Holly Herndon, who brings her PROTO live show to BAM in Brooklyn on Friday, March 27; you can get tickets now.

In addition to Brooklyn, Holly's only other live date at the moment is at L.A.'s Getty Center on Saturday, April 4; it's free.

On PROTO, which we counted among the best albums of 2019, Holly fronts and conducts an electronic pop choir composed of both human and AI voices, including the "AI baby" that Holly created for the album, Spawn. The Brooklyn and LA shows should be an excellent occasion to see it come to life in person inside of special venues with animations from Darío Alva, costume design from Benjamin Kirchhoff, and software development from Jules LaPlace. You can see pictures of the 2019 debut of the PROTO live show here.

Meanwhile, Holly was scheduled to play a very special SXSW set inside a "Hexadome," and discuss her doctoral research in artificial intelligence and music in a featured SXSW session, "Artificial Intelligence and Interdependent Music." Unfortunately, as the festival has been cancelled, those events are off, as well.
