Hop Along's Frances Quinlan has shared another single off her upcoming solo album Likewise (due 1/31 via Saddle Creek), "Your Reply." Previous singles have seen Frances experimenting with synths and drum machines and other non-guitar instruments, but if you hoped "Frances Quinlan solo album" would mean "Frances and an acoustic guitar," you're gonna wanna hear this one. "Your Reply" also features drums and pianos and other stuff, but the jangle of the acoustic guitar and the warmth of Frances' voice are the driving forces, and it makes for a very appealing song. Frances says, “There can be a one-sidedness to even the most loving and rewarding relationships. We will always have a part of ourselves we can’t or don’t know how to share. There are so many risks involved. Regardless, I think of this song as celebratory. If anything, the speaker is frustrated at coming so close to understanding another person completely, but perhaps only just missing the mark. But still what a gift that is, to come close.” Listen below.

Frances has also expanded her tour, which now includes an album release show in Brooklyn happening on the eve of the album release, January 30 at The Sultan Room. That show is with Noia, and tickets go on sale Friday (1/10) at 10 AM.

Frances, who produced all the artwork for Likewise herself, is also displaying her artwork at pop-ups in NYC and LA. They're both free and open to the public, and they happen at NYC's Selina Chelsea on January 29 and LA's Junior High on March 13. And here's more, via press release: "For the week following album release, Selina Chelsea will also host a Frances Happy Hour, where her artwork will remain on display in the lobby and the album will be played daily at 6 pm. Also, artwork will also be displayed in the Blackwing Pop Up space in Rough Trade NYC for the month of February."
