Hot Water Music’s Jason Black on the music that’s getting him through isolation
With the coronavirus outbreak causing many people to stay at home as much as possible, we’ve been asking musicians what music they’re listening to in isolation, and this one comes from Hot Water Music bassist Jason Black.
This one's presumably hot off the presses because it includes a Run The Jewels song that came out less than a week ago. It also includes Be Well, the new-ish band fronted by Brian McTernan (who produced a few of Hot Water Music's classic albums) that also features members of Fairweather, Darkest Hour, and Bane; and some other cool songs. Read on for his list, with succinct commentary on each one.

WHAT JASON BLACK IS LISTENING TO IN ISOLATION
1) "Consider" - Gouge Away
Florida represent. I couldn't stop listening to Burnt Sugar and I can't stop listening to this single. Simple case of a band just kicking ass.
2) "Yankee and the Brave (ep.4)" - Run The Jewels
I've been waiting for RTJ4 for what seems like an eternity and very much appreciate them for dropping songs early to help us through these tough times. This song is the audio equivalent of the best action/buddy movie you've never seen. I wish everyone had as much fun as RTJ.
3) "Frozen" - Be Well
Friends make amazing hardcore band = life feels ok for a minute.
4) "Final Form" - Sampa the Great
My favorite song of 2019 and it's still in heavy rotation.
5) "Brooklyn is Burning" -- Head Automatica
The gyms are closed, so back to street running.
