So how did your Record Store Day 2014 turn out? I found everything on my list apart from the Liars 12". It was a gorgeous day in NYC and I walked over the Williamsburg bridge into the city where my first stop was at Turntable Lab, which had a long slow line but lots of stock, and they handed out checklists which you could fill out, give to a clerk and they'd have your records at the counter for when you eventually got there. Other Music was probably the busiest Manhattan store I saw with a line around the block even at 2 PM. There was one guy camped out the night before! A few pics from the opening craziness, plus an instagram from Lonnie Holley's in-store performance, are in this post.
In Living Stereo, around the corner from OM, was again a great RSD experience, with free PBR, low-key live performances, and a decent amount of exclusives that were still there when I strolled in mid-afternoon. Plus their used section is great -- I found Moose's 1991 Jack EP on vinyl for $10.
What did you get at Record Store Day? What couldn't you find? We'll have pictures from Rough Trade's RSD14 soon. More pics from Other Music below...
