Hum Inlet

Hum surprise-release first new album in 22 years (listen!)

UPDATE: Read our review of the album.

Heavy, shoegazy, spacey, alternative rock greats Hum have been reunited for a few years, but so far they only played live shows… until now. The band just surprise-released their first new album in 22 years!

It’s called Inlet and it’s out now digitally and will come out physically on August 31 via Polyvinyl (pre-order). I’ve only listened once but it already feels like a genuinely great addition to the band’s catalog and not just a rehash of their classic material. It sounds unmistakably like Hum but in a way that feels modern and fresh, and there are some really strong songs on this. Stream it below.

Update: We reviewed “Step Into You,” which is already a clear highlight, and we’ll write more about the album after we take it in some more. We also reviewed the album.

The band writes:

Hum is happy to announce the release of our new album, Inlet.

Vinyl (180g double LP), CD, and shirt bundles are available for immediate pre-order via Polyvinyl Record Co., with all pre-orders including a free digital download.

The record is also available for consumption at http://humband.bandcamp.com and will ripple out to all digital platforms within the week.

Vinyl manufacturing has been delayed a bit due to Covid. We are hoping we can ship late Summer. We’ll keep you posted. The band is extremely thankful for the kindness we have received over the years, and we hope everybody is healthy and well!
