Like everybody else, we were very sad to learn of Grant Hart's passing today and has had us thinking about his days in seminal punk band Hüsker Dü. It had BV contributor Greg Cristman thinking about Husker Du, too, and he shared with us never-before published photos Husker Du playing NYC's Peppermint Lounge on May 8, 1985 when the band were on the New Day Rising tour. "These photos were supposed to go in the third edition of my fanzine called Task, along with an interview I did with Hüsker Dü. Unfortunately the zine never came out. These shots were taken from the best tour they ever did, at the absolute height of their powers!" Check out the gallery below.

NYC cable access show Videowave also interviewed Husker Du before the Peppermint Lounge show and you can watch that below. UPDATE: The video has unfortunately been made private on YouTube.

You can also read tributes to Hart from Fred Armisen, Ryan Adams, Craig Finn, and more. There's a box set of Hüsker Dü's early material on the way too.
