Broad City stars raffling autographed bong for Cynthia Nixon + see Ilana in NY

Broad City stars and creators Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson are both very politically active and have been vocal supporters of onetime Sex & The City star Cynthia Nixon‘s bid for New York Governor. One of Nixon’s campaign proposals is for legalization of marijuana in New York, and Glazer and Jacobson have autographed a bong that is being raffled off to raise money for her campaign. Said Nixon in the Instagram pic above:

80% of New Yorkers arrested for cannabis are black or latinx, while people who look like @abbijacobson and @ilanusglazer and I essentially get a pass. We have to stop putting people of color in jail for something that white people do with impunity. Join the ladies of @broadcity and support my plan to legalize cannabis and end the criminalization of people of color in NY.

You don’t have to pledge money to enter the raffle, and you have until July 16 to enter.

Meanwhile, Ilana Glazer also has some live events coming up in Brooklyn:

She is cofounder (along with Glennis Meagher and Ruby Anaya) of the activist Generator Collective:

Generator Collective aims to be a community for Americans to share their stories on how they have been impacted by political policy – both positive and negative. We want to humanize policy through storytelling by helping organize the noise of these policies into digestible, human stories, and overall lower the political barrier of entry.

The Generator was created by three women who want to help reduce the political divide and start human conversations around how policy impacts real people.

You can watch a video on the Generator Collective below. Glazer will host the four part “Generator Series” at The BRIC House on July 23, 24, 30 & 31, where she “will interview an activist and a politician to see how they each serve us – the people.” Guests at the 7/23 event are Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, and on 7/24 it’s Pauloa Mendoza and Michael Skolnik. Guests for the two other shows are still TBA. There is also an interactive element to these events as well: “You – yes you – will get the chance to record your own Generator video at the event with the help of fellow Generators.” More info on that is here and tickets for the four Generator Series event are on sale now.
