Illinois real estate agent fired after Patton Oswalt Twitter fight

Patton Oswalt sent the above Tweet early Tuesday morning, referencing acting Attorney General Sally Yates who was fired by Trump for opposing his immigration ban. A Peoria, IL real estate agent, Tony Brust, replied to Patton, “Oh (bleep), the little troll has an opinion again.” Podcaster Chris Conroy replied to Tony:

Then things got ugly. Brust replied “I’m a psychic and I am channeling his wife’s opinions” — Oswalt’s wife, true crime writer Michelle McNamara, died unexpectedly in April 2016. Brust deleted it quickly but not before people took screenshots:

This set off a retaliative Tweet-storm by Owsalt, mocking Brust’s real estate listings: “Totally Not a Murder House” and “Personally crop dusted by Tony Brust.” Patton deleted those later but left up this, rewriting Elton John:

Then on Wednesday he wrote this: “Would’ve happily ignored Tony Brust if he hadn’t sent THIS tweet. But he did and it caught me at a dark moment”:

Since the incident, Brust deleted his entire Twitter feed and has been fired from the Jim Maloof real estate firm. The Chicago Tribune spoke to owner Michael Maloof, who told them “We were made aware that this had gone on and we parted company. We’re kind of a conservative, God-loving, family-oriented company down here and the respect of our fellow man is deep into our culture.”

In related news, it was recently announced that Patton will be hosting the 21st Annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production Design Awards on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland. You can also catch Oswalt back in new episodes of TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Here’s a clip from the most recent episode:
