Interpol turned on the bright lights at Bowery Ballroom (pics, videos, setlist)

Interpol are celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of their debut album, Turn on the Bright Lights, by playing the album in full in NYC and LA (they did some European dates, as well). In addition to a big show in each city (Forest Hills Stadium in NYC, and Los Angeles State Historic Park in LA), Interpol added last minute intimate club shows, too. NYC’s happened at Bowery Ballroom (where we also saw them play while promoting El Pintor in 2014 and in 2007) on Friday (9/22) night, on the eve of the Forest Hills show. After playing TotBL in full during their set, Interpol played some hits from throughout their discography as an encore. Pictures from the Bowery show are in the gallery above, and the setlist and a few video clips (including one from Lizzy Goodman, author of Meet Me in the Bathroom, the new oral history of the NYC rock revival that birthed Interpol) are below.

Interpol’s big Turn on the Bright Lights show at Forest Hills Stadium is today (9/23), and tickets are on sale. The anniversary shows are unfortunately without former bassist Carlos D, who recently wrote an essay calling them a “painful affair” and equating his own feelings to that of a “survivor of PTSD.” On the bright side, the show does feature exciting openers Deerhunter and Battles.
