Irish band Fontaines DC sign to Partisan, share "Too Real," touring w/ Idles in 2019

Dublin band Fontaines DC have just signed to Partisan Records and the label will release their debut LP in 2019. To celebrate the signing, they’ve just shared new “Too Real,” a post-punk inspired, shoegazy burner. The video, directed by Hugh Mulhern, was inspired by James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. Says FDC singer Grian Chatten:

The circular nature of the song + video reflect the circular nature of the book, but also in a sense the surreal repetition of life. I think something strange happens to your soul when you experience something that you’ve already experienced before. We’re always longing for every step in life to be a new, developmental one. To accept that some things stay the same, something cracks within. That’s where surrealism comes in. The song’s chorus is accusatory, and we also wanted to be able to look people in the eye from on stage and sing this to them.

Watch the video, and listen to a couple other Fontaines DC singles, below.

While the band record their debut album with Dan Carey (Hot Chip, Kate Tempest), they’ll also be touring a lot. They just played Iceland Airwaves (watch a KEXP session from here) and have got UK dates this fall with Shame, and will head to North America in 2019 to tour with Partisan labelmates Idles and play SXSW. Dates with Idles include the NYC show at Brooklyn Steel on May 10 (tickets). All Fontaines DC dates are listed below.
