Iron & Wine's return-to-form (and return to Sub Pop) album Beast Epic comes out next week (8/25), and ahead of its release, main member Sam Beam played an intimate solo show at NYC's Housing Works last night (8/16). The show was a very good cause, with proceeds going to "Housing Works' lifesaving services for people living with HIV/AIDS and our political advocacy work to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York by 2020." It was a very laid-back set for Sam, who didn't have a setlist and took requests from the crowd. Pictures are in the gallery above.

Sam will also perform at One World Trade Center in NYC on Friday (8/18), and Pitchfork is streaming the show live at 4 PM ET.

Iron & Wine's proper tour includes NYC shows on November 13 at Town Hall with John Moreland and November 14 at Brooklyn Steel with OHMME (tickets). John Moreland also plays a headlining show on 11/14 at Rough Trade (tickets on sale 8/18 at noon).
