Stooges tribute band Ron & Scott — which features Rob Thomas (the one from Sunburned Hand of the Man, not Matchbox 20 or the Veronica Mars/Party Down creator), John Moloney (also of SHOTM) and Noel Ford — are playing this week’s edition of the “Sally Can’t Dance” party on Thursday (3/10) at Bowery Electric, in honor of the band’s departed members Scott and Ron Asheton. They’ll be joined by a very special guest, who’s performed with the Asheton brothers before, Dinosaur Jr’s J Mascis. Other guests include Black Flag/Misfits’ Dez Cadena, Gumball’s Don Fleming, and more. Jonathan Toubin and Alix Brown are your DJs for the evening, and Bowery Electric co-owner (and D Generation frontman) Jesse Malin is among the hosts. Tickets are on sale now.

Meanwhile, actual Stooges singer Iggy Pop recently performed in NYC, posed nude for a drawing class, and announced a Record Store Day exclusive. He’ll tour again soon, including SXSW next week and NYC in April.

Watch J Mascis play “Down on the Street” with Mike Watt and the Ashetons, below.
