James Acaster

James Acaster released four-part Netflix standup special, playing L.A. & NYC shows

Comedian James Acaster is fairly well-known in his home of the United Kingdom, but is only now starting to make a splash in the US. That’s thanks, in part, to an ambitious, four-part Netflix standup special titled Repertoire, which as the title suggests, is comprised of material James has performed over the course of his career. Despite the length, Repertoire is a rather refreshing take on the standup special, and contains many overarching narratives and recurring motifs that viewers of all four parts may find rewarding. Throughout the special, James ranges from performing regular observational comedy on topics such as cheese graters and apricots, to stranger forms of physical humor. It’s a unique comedy special. You can watch the trailer for Repertoire, and watch his appearance on Conan, below.

James will soon be doing shows in the United States next week, where he’s set to debut a new show, “Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999.” These include Los Angeles and three NYC shows (his first-ever here); an early show at Brooklyn’s Union Hall on May 19, and two nights at SoHo Playhouse on May 19 & 20. The first two shows are sold out, but tickets for the 5/20 show are still on sale. All dates are listed below.
