Jamila Woods followed her great 2016 debut HEAVN with the even better single/short film "Giovanni" last fall, and now she has finally announced a new album, LEGACY! LEGACY!, due May 10 via Jagjaguwar (pre-order). It includes "Giovanni" and the just-released single "ZORA," which is keeping our hopes very high for this album. With a very lively backing band, "ZORA" sees Jamila delivering an instantly-appealing blend of soul, jazz, and rock, and the song comes with a live performance video that does it a lot of justice. "In our society, a black body unapologetically taking up space is revolutionary in itself," director Vincent Martell says. "Jamila goes even further by rocking out to a song named after Zora Neale Hurston in a library filled with hundred of thousands of pieces of black literature. The production is a celebration of black people living in their essence and that undeniable energy transmits on camera." Watch/listen below.

The album features Nitty Scott, Saba, theMIND, Nico Segal, Boogie, and Jasminfire, along with production from Oddcouple, Peter Cottontale, and Slot-A. Check out the full tracklist below. That's the artwork above.
