Jane Birkin played “Symphonique” Serge Gainsbourg w/ Iggy Pop & more at Beacon Theatre (pics, video)
Jane Birkin brought her show Birkin Gainsbourg: Le Symphonique back to NYC on Friday at Beacon Theatre. A tribute to her late husband and collaborator, Serge Gainsbourg, the show offers up symphonic versions of classic Gainsbourg songs arranged by Nobuyuki Nakajima, ranging from his early career in the 1950s to those written especially for Birkin. This time around her daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg, joined her onstage for "Ballade de Johnny-Jane" while Iggy Pop came out for two songs, "Requiem pour un con" and "Élisa." Some of Serge's best-known songs were saved for an encore medley. Check out pictures from the show in the gallery above, and the setlist -- and more pics and video from Instagram -- are below.
Before the Beacon show, Jane and Iggy stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform "Élisa" and you can watch that below as well.
