Janelle Monae - Pynk

Janelle Monae and Grimes collaborate again for "PYNK" (new song & video)

Janelle Monae appeared on Grimes‘s excellent 2015 album Art Angels, and now the two have a new collaboration. Janelle Monae shared the newest, Grimes-featuring single, “PYNK,” from her new album and film project, Dirty Computer, due out later this month. The video’s description reads:

PYNK is a brash celebration of creation. self love. sexuality. and pussy power! PYNK is the color that unites us all, for pink is the color found in the deepest and darkest nooks and crannies of humans everywhere… PYNK is where the future is born….

Watch the video for “PYNK,” which was directed by Emma Westenberg, below. Another typically excellent entry into Janelle’s collection of music videos, it features vivid tones (focusing frequently, as you might expect, on the color pink), understated but effective choreography, sweet costumes, and a pair of “pussy grabs back” underwear. Tessa Thompson (Westworld, etc), who also stars in Janelle’s video for “Make Me Feel,” appears again here.

“PYNK” joins “Make Me Feel” and “Django Jane” among the songs and videos Janelle has shared from Dirty Computer. While she hasn’t announced a full tour in support of the new project, Janelle will appear at the Brooklyn edition of this year’s Afropunk Festival.
