Janelle Monae playing free Samsung event in NYC before Afropunk Brooklyn

Janelle Monae has spent most of 2018 touring behind her stellar LP Dirty Computer, and she’s just been tapped for a free launch party for Saumsung’s Galaxy Note 9 smartphone in NYC, which takes place on August 24 at the ‘Samsung 837’ space (at 837 Washington Street right by The Whitney in the Meatpacking District). According to the event page, Samsung says Janelle “is the living embodiment of Samsung’s philosophy: Do What You Can’t.” It’s first come, first served, and you can find out more about the event, and RSVP HERE.

That event is right before Janelle plays this year’s Afropunk Brooklyn, and she’ll also perform at women’s blog Bustle‘s inaugural “Rule Breakers” event on September 22, and Global Citizen Fest on September 29. Aside from these NYC dates, she’ll also be appearing at San Francisco’s Outside Lands (which is now underway) this Sunday, Philly’s Made in America fest in September, and Austin’s ACL Fest this October.
