Jarboe, the former Swans member and prolific solo artist and collaborator (Neurosis, Justin Broadrick), began her first U.S. tour in ages on Sunday night at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel. Post-industrial duo Father Murphy accompanied Jarboe during her set where she never once looked at the crowd, lost in sound. Moor Mother played a powerful, deafening opening set of poetry and power electronics. Pictures from the show are in the gallery above.

You can catch Jarboe and Father Murphy (who are calling it quits soon) in San Francisco on Tuesday, then Portland, Seattle, Chicago and New Orleans. All dates are here.

Jarboe also just shared “Karuna” off her forthcoming album, Cut the Warrior. “The song is a recording of a meditation on compassion,” Jarboe tells Popmatters. “Karuna is the foundation of omniscience. The recording includes clanging metal percussion, gongs, chanting. The meditation was recorded inside a meditation dome and mixed by Kris Force in Pacifica at Knobsknob studio.” You can listen to that, via Popmatters, below.
