Jarvis Cocker postpones album release and tour due to COVID-19

Jarvis Cocker has postponed the release of Beyond the Pale, the debut album from his new group JARV IS…, due to COVID-19. The record was originally set for a May 1 release and will now be out September 4 via Rough Trade. “It’s a drag to have make these changes but we’re sure you understand why they’re necessary,” Jarvis writes, adding, “We are looking into ways of doing some kind of ‘virtual performances’ in the interim. We miss you!”

Likewise, the JARV IS… May tour is postponed. The UK dates have been pushed to November and “new US dates will be announced in the future.” The only US shows that had been announced were two NYC release shows both happening at Elsewhere Hall on May 14 (no word on make-up dates). Stay tuned.

In the meantime, Jarvis says “You can keep fit whilst cooped-up indoors by dancing to ‘House Music All Night Long’,” noting “suddenly lines such as ‘Saturday Night Cabin Fever in House Natio’ & ‘Goddam this claustrophobia!’ have taken on a new meaning – but a domestic disco really is quite a pleasant method of passing the time.” You can watch the video for that and “Must I Evolve?” — and check out new UK dates — below.

If you need more, Jarvis also named his five favorite movies “to help while away the hours whilst we’re all stuck indoors.”
