After making their long-awaited return to the stage after 22 years at Riot Fest 2017 (and at a secret warm-up show right before), Jawbreaker recently announced some NYC and California shows for 2018. Starting that run was a matinee show at San Francisco's Bottom of the Hill on Saturday (1/13). Jawbreaker's setlist, which you can see below, included two songs they hadn't played since the 90s, "Sea Foam Green" and "Ache." At one point in the set, Blake Schwarzenbach addressed the band's reappearance, saying, "you know, we've been at this for a long time, for about a month and a half now. And I just want to say, all those third-wave emo bands and punk rock bands that slugged it out through the 2000s, through the Bush administration and kept the flag flying and made millions of dollars, we weren't doing that work. We were getting degrees, we were going to therapy, we were having existential crises, chemical breakdowns, just so that we could be here today." Watch a video clip of that moment, and more of Saturday's show, below, and see pictures in the gallery above.
Jawbreaker play a second San Francisco show on Sunday (1/14) at Great American Music Hall. It's sold out, as are the three NYC shows at Brooklyn Steel the band play in February. Tickets are still on sale to Jawbreaker's March 8 and 9 shows at The Hollywood Palladium in LA, and they've added a third, on March 10, as well. The LA shows are opened by Waxahatchee, while Charly Bliss and comedians Emily Flake, Clare O’Kane, and Kate Willett open in NYC (plus an unannounced "special guest" for nights 2 and 3)
