Author and music journalist Michael Azerrad‘s 2001 book Our Band Could Be Your Life, which chronicles many bands of the formative 1980s indie rock scene (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Black Flag, Husker Du, and more), will now get an official audiobook treatment, due out May 21 via Hachette Book Group. According to Azerrad, the new audiobook version features “folks who were inspired by the bands in the book” reading each chapter, and he revealed that the book’s chapter on Minutemen will be narrated by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. The audiobook’s other narrators are still TBA, and you can now preorder it here.

Michael Azerrad published another new book just last month, Rock Critic Law: 101 Unbreakable Rules for Writing Badly About Music, which focuses on the overused phrases and tropes he’s come across in modern rock journalism. You can purchase the book here.

Speaking of Jeff Tweedy, his new solo album WARM is out later this month, and his memoir Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back) hit bookshelves this week. He recently shared a playlist inspired by the memoir, and is also currently on a book tour in support of it, which hit Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre on Sunday (11/11) and Tuesday (11/13). Sunday’s event was moderated by Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, and Tuesday’s show was hosted by Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson. Aside from discussing the new book, Jeff brought out his guitar to perform a few songs as well. You can view a few photos and videos from the Brooklyn shows below.
