Jeff Tweedy touring, added to OctFest, releasing a book
The lineup has once again been expanded for Pitchfork’s music and beer fest, OctFest, which goes down September 8-9 on Governors Island. They added Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy to day one, the same day as Vince Staples, Nao, Saba, Preoccupations, Vagabon, Standing on the Corner, Hatchie, Flasher, and Madison McFerrin.
Day two has The Flaming Lips, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Yo La Tengo, Girlpool, Hop Along, No Age, Kamaiyah, Shopping, Julie Byrne, and The Courtneys. Tickets (single-day and two-day) are still available.
For Jeff Tweedy, OctFest falls in the middle of a tour he’s going on. All dates are listed below. Tweedy is also publishing a book, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back): A Memoir of Recording and Discording With Wilco, Etc, on November 13 via Penguin. According to a press release, the book “takes fans into his songwriting process, from early days with Uncle Tupelo to writing Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost Is Born, and beyond. Jeff talks about his childhood in Belleville, Illinois; takes you to the St. Louis record store, rock clubs and live music circuit he grew up in; and shows you around the Chicago scene that brought everything together. He’ll also talk in-depth about his collaborators in Uncle Tupelo, Wilco and more.”
