Jennifer Lopez & Shakira at The Superbowl

Jennifer Lopez & Shakira are playing Super Bowl LIV halftime show

It’s not Prince or Beyonce, but after the Super Bowl halftime show really plumbed the depths in 2019 with Maroon 5, for 2020 they’ve redeemed themselves with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, a combination we didn’t know we needed until we saw it. The NFL confirmed the news that the two pop singers are headed for the Hard Rock Stadium stage in Miami Gardens, FL on February 2, 2020 for Super Bowl LIV. The move comes after the NFL formed a broad partnership with Jay Z to help with entertainment and social justice initiatives.

“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” JLo said in a statement.

Shakira added, “I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world — and to top it off, on my birthday!”

J.Lo is having quite the resurgence this year. There’s Oscar talk for her performance in new film Hustlers (Fiona Apple talked about JLo and the scene in the film set to “Criminal”) and she recently wore an updated version of The Dress at the Versace show during Milan Fashion Week.
