NYC punk staple Jesse Malin recently released a new solo EP, Meet Me at the End of the World, produced by Joseph Arthur and recorded with Jesse' live band -- drummer Randy Schrager (Scissor Sisters), bassist Catherine Popper (Norah Jones, Ryan Adams), and longtime sideman Derek Cruz. The EP includes "Revelations / Thirteen," an original song that segues into a partial cover of Big Star's "Thirteen." Here's what Jesse tells us about it:

"Revelations / Thirteen" is about a breakup that takes place at the now-defunct health food restaurant on East 12 St., Angelica Kitchen. It hurts like hell, but in the end you know everything will be okay, somehow. A lotta folks just do it via text these days, no formalities, just “I'm out, peace, late, rad!”

The second half goes accidentally (it just happened, so we let it roll) into "Thirteen," one of my favorite Big Star songs... A rock n roll "Lolita" from the back in the ‘70s. 'Taking a chance on something you can't deny' seemed to be an appropriate way to end the Meet Me at the End of the World EP.

We're premiering the video for the song, which splices together performance footage and shots of Jesse walking the city streets. Watch, along with a stream of the whole EP, below.

Jesse recently opened for Green Day in London's Hyde Park (he also opened their intimate Webster Hall show last year), and he has more dates coming up, including Lollapalooza and NY/NJ shows with Juliana Hatfield this week. Jesse and Juliana play NJ's Crossroads on Friday (7/21) and NYC's Bowery Ballroom on Saturday (7/22). Both shows will be opened by Matthew Ryan, and tickets to both are available.

Jesse also opens for Cheap Trick at Port Chester, NY's Capitol Theatre on November 18 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
