Jherek Bischoff is a very busy man. He and Amanda Palmer recently put out Prince and Bowie tributes, he went on a collaborative tour with Mirah, he's got projects with Zac Pennington of Parenthetical Girls, he works with David Byrne, and that's just naming a few things. He'll release a new solo album, Cistern, this Friday (7/15) via The Leaf Label (pre-order), and a full stream of the album premieres in this post.

It's an instrumental album, largely orchestral but with a hint of electronic ambience. He recorded it with the Contemporaneous ensemble, as well as a few additional musicians (full album credits below). If you dig modern classical or film scores, this one's a pleasing listen from start to finish. Check it out below.

Cistern will also be part of the recurring Times Square series Midnight Moment series, the nightly video art on Times Square’s electronic billboards presented by the Times Square Advertising Coalition and curated by Times Square Arts. On August 21 and 22, Jherek himself will be there leading a live orchestra along with the on-screen projections. As the announcement reads, "Musicians plug in and appear to be playing silently for the passers-by, while audiences with headphones tune into this intimate concert."
