Jill Scott announces 'Who Is Jill Scott' 20th anniversary tour, hitting Radio City
Neo-soul great Jill Scott‘s classic 2000 debut Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 turns 20 next year, and she’ll celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary with a tour in 2020. She tells Billboard:
I’m going to be true to the album set list. I’ll do every song in the order of the album. My audience should bring their CD covers; some may know the list by heart. I will create musical arrangements for the songs purposed with new energy, but keep the integrity of the original songs they love. Expect theater. Expect incredible musicianship. Expect love.
When asked why her debut still resonates two decades later, she added, “It’s the honest stories and the timing. The album is sistah strong yet vulnerable and filled with love.”
The tour includes a show at NYC’s iconic Radio City Music Hall on February 20, as well as an Atlantic City show at the Borgata on 2/15 and stops in Chicago, Memphis, Austin, and several other cities. Tickets go on sale Friday (12/6) at 10 AM with presales beforehand. All dates are listed below.
