Jim James shares early "Superunknown" song on new podcast

Longtime BrooklynVegan photographer Dana Distortion has launched her own podcast called “Superunknown: Music You Don’t Know From The People You Do!” in which “Dana dares artists to share their unreleased, unheard demos for the first time ever.” Starting off strong, episode one features an interview with My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James who plays Dana a recording of the first song he ever wrote that he loved, and still loves. It’s a treat to hear. James also answers various questions about his career and life before Louisville Orchestra conductor Teddy Abrams joins them in the studio to talk The Order of Nature, the collaborative, orchestral album he and James released in October, the show they played together at Le Poisson Rouge, and more.

UPDATE: Jim, Teddy, and The Louisville Orchestra are bringing The Order of Nature to Carnegie Hall in 2021.

Continuing with the “superunknown” theme, each podcast also features a few songs by not so known bands.

Fred Armisen — who just announced a bunch of tour dates — is the guest on Superunknown’s second episode which comes out March 14.

Jim James recently produced an album for singer S.S. Goodman. A song just came out from that.

Superunknown is streaming whereever podcasts stream.
