Joan of Arc are always active, but it's been a few years since they've released a new album. That will change with the release of He’s Got The Whole This Land Is Your Land In His Hands on January 20 via Joyful Noise. The first single is "This Must Be the Placenta," which has a video where frontman Tim Kinsella's brother (and former Joan of Arc member) (and current American Football and Owen member) Mike plays the role of Tim. It's a pleasantly weird song, and pretty danceable as far as Joan of Arc songs go. Watch, and check out the album tracklist, below.

Joan of Arc have had various lineups over the years, and for this album it's Tim Kinsella, Bobby Burg, Theo Katsaounis, Melina Ausikaitis, and Jeremy Boyle.

The band also has some imminent shows, including Knitting Factory Brooklyn this Friday (10/7) with Slam Section and Tarakaia (tickets). They also play the Chicago stop of American Football's tour, which also has Low on the bill. Updated dates are listed below.

American Football, meanwhile, will release their first album since 1999 on October 21 via Polyvinyl. After already releasing two of its songs, they returned with a third, "Desire Gets in the Way." It's keeping hopes pretty high for this album. Listen below.
