Joan Shelley announces tour with James Elkington (who covered The Kinks)
Folk singers Joan Shelley and James Elkington have announced a tour together for this fall. The tour is in support of Joan’s new self-titled album and James’ new album Wintres Woma, which is out now on Paradise of Bachelors. James plays on Joan’s new album, and he’ll also be playing in her band on this tour.
They have a NYC show on October 9 at Union Pool. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (7/28) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.
Joan Shelley’s new album was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, who Joan spent the year playing alongside when she opened Wilco’s tour. Both Joan and James made contributions to the Our First 100 Days series this year.
James is currently in the midst of wrapping up another tour with Steve Gunn (whose band James is playing in) and Heron Oblivion. In addition to releasing his new album this year, James has covered three Kinks songs for Aquarium Drunkard.
