Today (5/19) would've been Joey Ramone's 69th birthday. Usually, there's an annual birthday bash tribute show in NYC (Bowery Electric has hosted the last few years) which doubles as a benefit for lymphoma research. With clubs closed and everyone social distancing thanks to COVID-19, though, this year's party is going virtual. The 2020 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash livestream starts tonight (5/19) at 7:55 PM Eastern and includes the premiere of a "video mashup" titled "Now I Wanna Drink Some Bleach" that was recorded by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and featuring film of Joey from Joey's camera. Sounds like it might be "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" for Trump supporters.

The Birthday Bash also features performances by CJ Ramone, Richie Ramone, Glen Matlock & Earl Slick, Andy Shernoff, Knox, Brett Jansch (Dune Rats), Tracy Thornton, Barb Wire Dolls, Low Meato, Alan Merrill, Jane Lee Hooker, Mutated Music, DJ Bird, and Sihasin. There will also be messages of support from Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club), Bun E Carlos (Cheap Trick), Lenny Kaye, Marshall Crenshaw, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Jesse Malin, Clem Burke (Blondie), Rock N' Roll High School director Allan Arkush, producer Ed Stasium and more.

Tune in at the official Joey Ramone Facebook page.
