John Cameron Mitchell adds more "Songs & Stories of Hedwig" tour dates

John Cameron Mitchell is continuing to celebrate 20+ years of Hedwig with more dates of his “The Origin of Love Tour: The Songs and Stories of Hedwig” where he and his four-piece band perform songs from the musical and tells stories about its creation. New dates include stops in Ann Arbor, MI in November and 2020 dates in Austin, Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, Berkeley, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. “It’s been very rejuvenating to be reliving the 25-year history of Hedwig and its creation with Stephen Trask,” says Mitchell. “These shows were born from necessity, to help pay down my Mom’s health care, but have ended up as a glorious re-bonding with our fans and a celebration of how Hedwig has changed all our lives.”

There are no new NYC performances on the schedule, but Mitchell did two nights at Town Hall back in June for Pride and pictures from that are in the gallery above. Mitchell does have a few NYC appearances on the horizon, however. He’ll be a performer on Live From Here With Chris Thile at Town Hall on September 28 with Jamila Woods, Ann Patchett, and Tom Papa (win tickets!). He’ll also be the guest on a taping of NPR’s podcast game show Ask Me Another at The Bell House on November 3 (tickets).
